OK, so I don’t have that many favorite “Christmas movies.” My solution? Create a list with my favorite Christmas movies and some flicks that aren’t “Christmas movies” but take place during the holiday season. Here it is:
10. Home Alone (1990)
Come on. You know you like this flick.
9. Bad Santa (2003)
Is he ever.
8. Trading Places (1983)
Wow. Think you are having a bad holiday season? It can’t be as bad as Dan Aykroyd’s character’s in this flick. No trailer, but a hilarious scene (language alert!)
7. Batman Returns (1992)
Even superheroes celebrate the holidays.
6. Die Hard (1988)
Christmas Eve trapped with violent criminals in a skyscraper. Sounds like fun.
5. Lethal Weapon (1987)
One of the greatest action movies of all time opens with Jingle Bell Rock and ends on Christmas.
4. Elf (2003)
“I just like to smile. Smiling’s my favorite!” I love this flick.
3. A Christmas Story (1983)
This flick is on TV so often during the holiday season that you really don’t have an excuse if you don’t catch at least a little bit of it. Classic.
2. Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)
Ever have a trip this bad? I Couldn’t find the trailer, but here is a great scene.
1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)
My favorite Christmas movie and one of my favorite comedies of all time. A must see.

I told you I like Will Ferrell. You didn’t know how much, did you? Otherwise, how could I rank Elf ahead of some of the other movies on this list? Because IT’S FUNNY! Don’t believe me? Then watch the video below.
I am sure there will be other movies in this list that will generate controversy. Anyone care to argue about where I have this flick ranked? Heck, maybe someone will even tell me that it should be ranked higher. Sooooo, what do you think?
By the way, Blog Action Day threw me off my normal posting schedule. From this point forward (HOPEFULLY), I will be posting flicks from my Top 100 Movies list on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, barring some unforeseen circumstance like, oh I don’t know, someone makes me so angry with their comments about my ranking of Elf that I just can’t post that day. Just kidding - comment away!
