OK, so I don’t have that many favorite “Christmas movies.” My solution? Create a list with my favorite Christmas movies and some flicks that aren’t “Christmas movies” but take place during the holiday season. Here it is:
10. Home Alone (1990)
Come on. You know you like this flick.
9. Bad Santa (2003)
Is he ever.
8. Trading Places (1983)
Wow. Think you are having a bad holiday season? It can’t be as bad as Dan Aykroyd’s character’s in this flick. No trailer, but a hilarious scene (language alert!)
7. Batman Returns (1992)
Even superheroes celebrate the holidays.
6. Die Hard (1988)
Christmas Eve trapped with violent criminals in a skyscraper. Sounds like fun.
5. Lethal Weapon (1987)
One of the greatest action movies of all time opens with Jingle Bell Rock and ends on Christmas.
4. Elf (2003)
“I just like to smile. Smiling’s my favorite!” I love this flick.
3. A Christmas Story (1983)
This flick is on TV so often during the holiday season that you really don’t have an excuse if you don’t catch at least a little bit of it. Classic.
2. Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987)
Ever have a trip this bad? I Couldn’t find the trailer, but here is a great scene.
1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)
My favorite Christmas movie and one of my favorite comedies of all time. A must see.

Great list…I had thought about doing the Holidays angle too and thus would have included Groundhog Day
Thanks Mike. I did want to keep it to Christmas and Thanksgiving flicks though.
I would have to add Die Hard 2…maybe, you know, Die Hard/Die Hard 2 as both movies put me in the Christmas spirit equally. I don’t know, though. I’m thinking Die Hard 2 might actually edge out Die Hard when it comes to making me feel all Christmasy. I don’t know what it is, but whenever I see it I just get that warm, holiday feeling inside.
I almost included Die Hard 2 with Die Hard at No. 6. Guess I should have
